Dr. Michael Kwan is a co-founder of Roxboro Clinic and a General Surgeon with clinical expertise in benign gastrointestinal disorders, surgical endoscopy, and minimally invasive surgery. He completed both his medical degree and his General Surgery residency at the University of Calgary, and subsequently completed a Fellowship in Surgical and Interventional Endoscopy at the University of Adelaide in Australia.

Dr. Kwan is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, and has served as Co-Director of the General Surgery Residency Program at the University of Calgary. He has been the Director of the Benign Gastrointestinal Disorders Clinic in Calgary since 2016, and practices as a General Surgeon with Alberta Health Services.

In 2022, Dr. Kwan co-founded the Southern Alberta Surgical Center alongside Dr. Datta, building a surgical health network that includes affiliated clinics such as Rideau Clinic and the Breast Health Clinic at SASC. Through this work, Dr. Kwan has developed a deep understanding of how coordinated, physician-led care models can deliver better experiences and better outcomes for patients.

At Roxboro Clinic, Dr. Kwan's philosophy is grounded in the belief that great medicine is built on relationships, attention to detail, and thoughtful coordination across a care team. He is focused on helping patients understand their health, navigate decisions with clarity, and access the right care at the right time — with the goal of supporting not only longevity, but quality of life across every stage.
