Dr. Michael Kwan
MD, FRCSC, FACS
Dr. Michael Kwan is a Consulting Physician at Roxboro Clinic and a General Surgeon with clinical expertise in benign gastrointestinal disorders, surgical endoscopy, and minimally invasive surgery. He completed both his medical degree and his General Surgery residency at the University of Calgary, and subsequently completed a Fellowship in Surgical and Interventional Endoscopy at the University of Adelaide in Australia.
Dr. Kwan is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, and has served as Co-Director of the General Surgery Residency Program at the University of Calgary. He has been the Director of the Benign Gastrointestinal Disorders Clinic and is the current Site Division Chief for General Surgery at the South Health Campus.
In 2022, Dr. Kwan co-founded the Southern Alberta Surgical Center alongside Dr. Datta, building a surgical health network that includes affiliated clinics such as Rideau Clinic and the Breast Health Clinic at SASC. Through this work, Dr. Kwan has developed a deep understanding of how coordinated, physician-led care models can deliver better experiences and better outcomes for patients.
As a Consulting Physician at Roxboro Clinic, Dr. Kwan brings his philosophy that great medicine is built on relationships, attention to detail, and thoughtful coordination across a care team. He is committed to helping shape a model of care that supports patients in understanding their health, navigating decisions with clarity, and achieving better long-term health and quality of life.
